It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The holidays put everyone in a good mood. They are a chance to give thanks, exchange gifts and forget the past year in hopes that the calendar change will make for a new chapter in life.
Maybe it’s the overall feeling of peace, joy and love (or the spiked eggnog), but the holidays are also a popular time of year for men and women to hook up and spread a different kind of cheer. While finding love during the holidays is possible, there are some people who should be avoided at all costs. Sure, they seem like a good idea at the time, but don’t let the pretty wrapping fool you: the gift inside is slightly damaged and won’t be as easy to return as those horrendous sweaters that Aunt Thelma gets you every year.
Here are four holiday hookups to avoid, (even if they are lying naked under a bushel of mistletoe.)
Coworker
It’s the companyChristmas Party, and spirits are really high. (No thanks to the open bar they provided) There’s that girl/guy from accounting you’ve had your eye on all year, so you swoop in and make your presentation like they were an important client (minus the graphs and overhead projector). The next thing you know, the holidays are over and you’re knee deep in an office fling. There is no positive outcome. It’s all downhill from here, and when you do break it off with this holiday hookup to avoid, you’ve made an instant enemy in the office. Plus, word travels fast and you’re tagged as “the person who hooks up at company events,” which is a worse badge to wear than “the person who takes too long in the bathroom.” It’s never smart to dip your candy cane/open your present in the company office, especially not during the holidays.
